CHANGES AT KREMLIN
“No Longer Seat Of Government”
(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, August 28. The Kremlin, Moscow’s ancient fortress fheing Red square, is being abandoned as the seat of the Soviet Government end will be restored as a symbol of Russian culture, reports the Moscow correspondent of the “Daily Express.” Sightseers will once again be allowed inside the high-walled citadel with its historic churbhes, museums and other buildings, as they were allowed under, the Tsars.
The offices of the Prime Minister (Mr Malenkov) and other Government leaders are being moved out, the correspondent continued. Since Stalin’s death many offices already have been established in other parts of Moscow and a new skyscraper is going up on the other side of Red square tp house the rest. Mr Malenkov is said to have transferred his-home already. ■ Plans have been announced to move the bodies of Stalin and Lenin from their Red square tomb to the outlying Lenin Hills.
