DEATH IN HOSPITAL TIN FOUND IN RUBBISH DUMP A boy aged 17 months djed in the Christchurch Public Hospital on Saturday a few hours after swallowing some of the contents of a tin that had been found in a nearby rubbish dump. He was: Michael Joseph .. Duncan, of 131 Haytons roa.d;' Sockbum, son of Mr John Harold Duncan. The .-child was playing in the backyard' at his home about 1 pjn. on Saturday. Older children had found several tins in the nearby rubbish dump and shingle pit and brought them to the ’house. A child was drowned at his home in Menzies Ferry on Saturday afternoon, when he fell into a four-foot-deep sump. He was: Stewart Henry Cameron, aged one year and 11 months, the younger son of- Mr and Mrs. O. A. Cameron. The child was reported missing about 5 p.m. His body was found in the sump about two hours later. PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY CAR , SERIOUS INJURIES SUFFERED A pedestrian was placed on the seriously ill list at the Christchurch Public Hospital after an accident in Yaldhurst road, about 24 chains west of the intersection with Russley road, about 9.45 p.m. on Saturday. Last evening there was reported to have been no change in his condition. The pedestrian is Robert Bruce Hamilton,, a married man, of 98 Kahu road. He was struck by a car driven by John Ward Watson, of 110 St. James avenue. CYCLIST DIES AFTER COLLISION A cyclist who was injured in a collision with a station waggon at Burwood on. August 13 died at the Christchurch Public Hospital at 11.45 p.m. on Saturday. He was: Richard Mervyn Bedding, aged 35, of 221 New Brighton road Mr Bedding was admitted to hospital unconscious. The station waggon was driven by Gilbert Thomas Forward, of 504 New Brighton road, and the accident occurred in New Brighton road near the intersection with Cresswell avenue, at 6.20 p.m. on August 13. An inquest will be opened this morning. MOTORCYCLE RUNS INTO BUS RIDER SUFFERS SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES ' A motor-cyclist, Basil Barrington, of 106 Hawke street, ran into the rear of a Christchurch Transport Board bus that had stopped to set down passengers in Buckleys road about 7.20 p.m. on Saturday. Mr Barrington was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital with head injuries, and placed on the seriously ill list. His condition last evening was unchanged. The bus was driven by Colin David Wilkie, of 262 Armagh street. CYCLIST INJURED IN COLLISION A cyclist, Arthur lan Creedon, of 214 Highstead road, suffered leg injuries in a collision with a car at the intersection of Fendalton and Clyde, roads on Saturday morning. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, and his condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
