LAND VALUES
Sir,—Among the factors involved with the growing , cost of living is the one of land values, expanding prices for building and business sites and climbing rents. Much in land values is social or community-created, which under existing laws becomes largely channelled into personal profits—something for nothing, akin to interest on bank credit issues. Having seen nothing in social credit’s literature bearing upon the matter of land values, perhaps some of your correspondents can enlighten us to the attitude of social credit supporters. With our production for profit economy, land values are a commodity to be bought and sold, but land is limited in quantity.— Hours, etc., A.H.S.H. August 21, 1954.
