SOUTH ISLAND TITLES DECIDED (New Zealand Press Associatfon) „ OAMARU, August 21 , Honours were fairly evenly distributed when the finals of the South Island and* North Otago badminton championship! were played at Oamaru on Saturday evening. In some of the games, particularly in the A grade, the matches were very interesting, with top seeded players receiving substantial opposition from those lower down the ladder. The G grade players, L. Baxendale and Mrs Cowan, both from Buller, took three champion* ships each. Results were:— A Grade Men’s Singles.—Final: A. T. Skdt (Southland) beat R. Pattinson (Canterbury), 15-9, 15-5. Women’s Singles.—Final: Miss A Mae* kenzie (North Otago) beat Miss R. (Otago), 12-10, 11-6. Men’s Doubles. —Final: R. Pattinson and R. Macefield (Canterbury) beat A. ISkelt and J. Speirs (Southland), 15-lk Women’s Doubles.—Final: Miss G. CW and Mrs D. Hay (Otago) beat Miss R Emslie (Otago) and Mrs Lindsay (South Canterbury), 15-9, 15-12. Mixed Doubles.—Final: A. T. Skrf (Southland) and Miss A. Mackend* (North Otago) beat R.
