NEW APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED The Rev. D. C. Spencer and the Rev. I. B. Wilson were given new appointments at last evening’s meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery. Mr Spehcer’s new charge will be New Brighton, and his induction service will be held on August 26. Mr Spencer qualified to enter the ministry in 1940. He served as an Army chaplain during ihe war in the Pacific, and worked as a minister in Japan for about a year after the end of the war. For six years he was minister in Miramar, and later he was appointed to Matawhero parish, in the Gisborne district. Since then he has travelled overseas, and his last charge was in an eastern suburb of London. Mr Wilson has been appointed Presbyterian chaplain at the Christchurch Public Hospital, the Sunnyside l_:r.tal Hospital, Bur-./ood Hospital, and the future Cashmere Hospital. He is the first full-time hospital chaplain to be appointed by the Christchurch Presbytery. Mr Wilson has had considerable experience as a hospital chaplain. His first charge was Hanmet Springs, and he was chaplain of Queen Mary Hospital there. From 1946 to 1948, he was chaplain of Seacliff Mental Hospital, near Dunedin. From 1948 to 1953, he was minister at Queenstown. Last year, he returned to Hanmer Springs. In addition to his duties there, he is also chaplain at the Sunnyside Hospital, and travels to Christchurch for three da?s each fortnight to carry out this work. Mr Wilson will take up his new duties on October 1.
