U.S. PLAYERS BEAT FOREIGN TEAM (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) CHICAGO, August 10. Peter Thomson and Norman von Nida were narrowly beaten today in the international foursomes matches between United States and foreign players in the Tam o’Shanter tournament series. The Americans won the foursomes by three matches to one.

Jerry Barber and Gene Littler (United States) defeated Thomson, British open golf champion, and Flory wan Donck (Belgium), i up, and Lloyd Mangrum and Wally Ulrich (United States) defeated von Nida and Max Faulkner (England), 1 up. Von Nida and Faulkner staged a great rally over the last nine holes, after having been 3 down at the turn. Thomson and van Donck and Barber and Littler had been all-square at the end of the first nine. In the other two foursomes matches, Roberto de Vicenzo and Antonio Cerda (Argentina) defeated Peter Cooper and Bob Toski (United States), 5 and 4, and Cary Middlecoff and Skee Riegel (United States) defeated Mario Gonzalez (Brazil) and Alfonso Angelini (Italy), 5 and 4.
