PROGRESS LEAGUE TO ASCERTAIN TERMS “The league’s irrigation committee will get the final terms of the agreement from the Government, and will then ask the farmers’ committees to canvass the farmers in their areas,” said the chairman of the irrigation committee of the Canterbury Progress League (Mr W. F. McArthur) last evening. He was replying at a meeting of the league to Mr T. V. Wilkinson, who asked whether the farmers in each area should take steps to have legislation prepared, or whethpr the league should do this. Mr McArthur said he was constantly being approached by farmers from the area between the Rakaia and Waimakariri rivers who were eager to see irrigation schemes started.
