MR HOLLAND’S COMMENT
“NEWS MOST WELCOME” (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 21. “The Government finds the news most welcome,” said the Prime Minister (Mr Holland), commenting on the report that cease fire agreements on Laos and Vietnam had been initialled in Geneva and that agreement had been reached in principle on a cease fire for Cambodia. He said he understood that a further plenary meeting of the conference would be held tomorrow to consider general arrangements for a settlement and the way in which the countries concerned would associate themselves with the settlement. “The Government is naturally pleased that the efforts of the negotiators at Geneva have apparently succeeded in bringing an end to the long conflict in Indo-China. and I think we would all share the hope that a peaceful and satisfactory solution will be found , to the problem of Indo-China.” Mr Holland said the Government would have to wait till fuller details of the decisions reached at Geneva were received before making any further statement.
