Chinese Release 38 Foreigners
(Rec. 10 p.m.) HONG KONG, July 20. Two Englishmen, one Canadian, and eight other British subjects released from. Communist China arrived today from Shanghai on the British steamer Poyang. With them French subjects, one Swiss, one German, one Syrian, one Filipino, and five stateless persons.
Fifteen more foreigners later arrived in the British steamer Hunan from the North China port of Tientsin. They consisted of 11 stateless persons, two Swedes and two Austrian Jesuits, Leopold Brellinger, Bishop of Hsien, m the North China province of Hopei, «nd Father Josef Kellner, of Vienna. Both missionaries were expelled by the Chinese Communist authorities without any specific charges.
