MYXOMATOSIS IN BRITAIN
“ RABBIT NUMBERS REDUCED” (N.Z. Press Association?—Copyright) LONDON, July 19. Myxomatosis, the rabbit-killing virus disease, has now been reported in half of the 52 counties of England and Wales, the “Daily Telegraph” reported today. “Although it is much too early yet . to judge the effects on Britain’s estimated 60,000,000 to 100,000,000 rabbits, it is clear that in some districts their numbers have been greatly reduced,” the “Daily Telegraph” added. Authorities in Britain recently ruled against the planned spread of myxomatosis, but said the disease should be “allowed to take its course.”
