NORTH ISLAND TITLES (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 18. R. V. Jackson and Miss M. M. Hoar, both of Auckland, the two national titleholders, each won three events in the North Island table tennis championships, which ended at Whangarei on Saturdav night. Jackson won the men’s singles, the men’s doubles with M. Lang (Auckland), and the mixed doubles with Miss Hoar. Miss Hoar took the women’s singles and won the doubles with Miss C. Savage (Auckland). Results:— Men’s Singles.—Semi-finals: R. V. Jack-
son beat G A. Frew, 23-21, 21-9, 16-21, 21- W. O. Jaine beat A. Tomlinson, 8-21, 22- 21-18,- 17-21, 21-13. Final: Jackson beat Jaine, 21-13, 9-21, 21-8, 21-9. Women’s Singles.—Semi-finals: Miss M. M. Hoar beat Mrs Hurrey, 21-16, 21-18, 21-11; Miss C. Savage beat Miss L. M. Rodgers, 15-21, 21-12, 20-22, 24-22, 21-17. Final: Miss Hoar beat Miss Savage, 2114, 21-17, 16-21, 21-12. Men’s Doubles.—Semi-finals: H. C. Crispin apd Frew beat A. L. Thomlinson and Cox,® 5-21, 21-16, 21-17, 21-14; Jackson and M. Lang beat Choat and Jones, 21-9, 21-6, 21-12. Final: Jackson and Lang beat Frew and Crispin, 22-20, 21-14, 21-16. Mixed Doubles.—Semi-final: Dwyer and Miss Savage beat Frew and Mrs Campi, 21-13, 21-19. 21-15. Final: Jackson and Miss Hoar beat B. L. Dwyer and Miss Savage, 21-14, 23-21, 21-13, Women’s Doubles.—Semi-finals:' Misses Hoar and Savage beat Misses Campbell and McGuire, 21-16, 21-3, 21-16; Misses Rodgers and Schnieder beat Misses Paetai and Rare. 21-18, 21-13, 21-13. Final; Misses Hoar and Savage beat Misses Rodgers and Schnieder, 21-14, 21-11, 21-12.
