FISH AND CHIPS
Sir, —I sincerely hope that elephant fish will not be banned from the market, as “Delicate Stomach” suggests. A friend, recently arrived from England, tells me how much cheaper fish and chips are out here compared with England, and without being poorer in quality. The fact is that in the fish and chips usually bought from the shops were enjoy a cheap, palatable, well-cooked protein food, of good quality, as D. Eric Johnson showed, provided that it is fresh. The Health Department will surely use its powers to provide that, safeguard for us. Do not deprive people of one of the few cheap meals still obtainable.—Yours, etc., J.J. July 16, 1954.
