Building Permits.— Building permits issued last month by the Halswell County Council were for buildings of a total value of £50,169. Of the 30 permits issued 20 were for 23 houses, eight for garages, one for a shed, and one for alterations. “We are now issuing permits for building to the tune of something like £500.000 a year,” said the chairman, Mr James Mackenzie, at a meeting of the council on Thursday.
