WAGE INCREASES GRANTED

Increases in wages are provided in • new award for electrical workers in the New Zealand Engineering, Coachbuilding, Aircraft, and .Related Trades Union.

The minimum hourly rate for registered journeymen has been raised by Id to 5s 24 d. Other journeymen will be paid a minimum of 5s an hour. To this the Arbitration .Court’s general Wage increase has to be added. Men in charge of work on which not less than two or more journeymen arc employed will be 4£d extra. Workers who have been continuously with, the same employer for 10 years or more will have an additional week’s annual holiday. Car, motor-cycle, and bicycle allowances for those using their own vehicles for their employers’ work have also been increased. The award takes effect from May
