Officers Escape To Safety
(Rec. 10 p.m.) SAIGON, June 5. Three French Union officers who escaped capture at Dien Bien Phu reached safety today, barefoot, and with their clothes torn almost to shreds after tramping through the mountainous jungle for a month. The officers, one Frenchman and two Foreign Legionnaires, all second lieutenants, arrived in Luang Prabang, the Laotian capital They said that friendly tribesmen had given them every assistance. They believed that other survivors of the battle are still in the jungle trying to reach the French lines.
