ANOTHER “MIRACLE MlLE.”—Miss Diane Leather, the first woman to run a mile in less than five minutes. She recorded 4min 59.6sec at Birmingham 23 days after Roger Bannister became the first man to run a mile in less than four minutes. Miss Leather is 22 years old and has been in competitive athletics for only two years. She is employed at Birmingham University as a micro-analyst.
