N.Z. CONFERENCE OF R.S.A.
244 DELEGATES TO ATTEND
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 4. The annual conference of the NevZealand Returned Services’ Association will be held in the Wellington Town Hall this year from June 15 to June 17. Two hundred and forty-four delegates representing 97 of the 103 affiliated associations will attend. As no other nominations have been received, Sir Howard Kippenberger will be re-elected president. The Chief Justice (Sir Harold Barrowclough), as the deputy of the Gov-ernor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie), will officially open the conference. Among the official visitors will be the Prime Minister (Mr Holland), the Minister of Defence (Mr T. L. Macdonald), the Minister of Labour (Mr W. Sullivan), the Minister of Health (Mr J. R. Marshall), and the Minister of Lands (Mr E. B. Corbett). The Minister of External Affairs (Mr T. C. Webb) may also attend. The conference will discuss 90 remits which will deal mainly with war pensions, rehabilitation, defence, immigration, and the association’s constitution and finance.
Delegates to the conference will parade outside the Town Hall at 12.30 p.m. on June 15 and, led by the Wellington Police Highland Pipe Band, will march to the Citizens’ War Memorial, where a wreath will be laid.
