SOUTHERN MAORI SEAT
INDEPENDENT LABOUR CANDIDATE (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, June 3. A meeting of his supporters has decided to nominate Mr Rangi Logan, of Hastings, as an Independent Labour candidate for the Southern Maori seat. Mr Logan served with the Maori Battalion in World War II with the rank of major. In 1945 he was appointed Maori rehabilitation officer for Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa, Manawatu, Horowhenua, and Wellington. He resigned from the position to take up sheepfarming in Hawke’s Bay.
TWO MORE CANDIDATES CONFIRMED
Mr D. C. Kidd (Waimate) and Mr R. G. Gerard (Ashburton) have been confirmed by the Dominion headquarters of the National Party as candidates for those seats, which they cow hold.
