After dismissing the last two New South Wales batsmen cheaply in the morning, Auckland scored 265 for nine wickets before declaring at 4.35 p.m. For Auckland, J. Waddingham made 70, and D. Harding 55. The New South Wales batsmen started briskly in their second innings, but steady, accurate bowling by K. Butler and A. Campbell slowed the scoring rate. J.
