AUCKLAND WINS LACHLAN CUP (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN. February 17. Auckland became the new holders of the Lachlan Cup, competed for by tramway cricket teams from the four main centres, when the annual tournament ended at the University Oval today. In the two matches played today, Auckland beat Wellington on the first innings, and Dunedin had a similar victory over Christchurch. Auckland received 11 points. Dunedin 8, Christchurch 7, and Wellington none. Auckland scored 299 for three wickets against Wellington, B. Norman made 100, D. Hetherington 52, Wright 44, Webb 41, and Annan 39. In reply, Wellington was dismsised for 171 (Beaton 58, Wenmouth 36). Bowling for Auckland, Hetherington took five wickets for 64 and Norman three for 5.
In its match against Christchurch, Dunedin scored 236 for six wickets (W. Sinclair 75. W. Jenkins 20, L. Facoory 68. Silver 19, and Lobb 18). Wilkie took two for 19.
Christchurch made 120 (Shipton 31, Cook 29). K. Craig took five wickets for 63, and W. Sinclair three for 8.
