MATCH WITH FIJIANS
CANTERBURY TEAM ANNOUNCED R. T. DO WKER AND R. 11. SCOTT INCLUDED The Canterbury team to play the Fijians at Lancaster Park on February 19, 20, and 22 is a particuarly strong attacking side. Several changes have been made in the team that met Otago in the Plunket Shield match, the most notable being the inclusion of R. T. Dowker and R. H. Scott, who have replaced P. W. O’Malley and D. Stark. J. A. Hayes, who was not available for the Otago match, has been brought back into the side. P. G. Z. Harris is not available. For Hayes the heavy work of an opening bowler will be considerably lightened by the inclusion of Scott, another good opener, and D. J. Reid. With G. N. Gearry, the speed attack will be formidable. Little of Canterbury’s batting strength will be lost with the absence of O’Malley, Stark, and Harris. Dowker has batted particularly well this season, and with three centuries to his credit he has more than earned his place in the team. Scott has also batted consistently well in club matches this year. The following is the team:— J. G. Leggat (captain), P. Arnold, R. T. Dowker. R. W. G. Emery, S. C. Guillen, G. N. Gearry, R. H. Scott, J. A. Hayes, I. Sinclair, T. B. Burtt, D. J. Reid, B. Haworth (twelfth man).
