OBITUARY

MR T. E. MAUNSELL (New Zealand Press Association) NELSON, January 11. Mr T. E. Maunsell, former magistrate at Nelson, died last evening at the age of 73. After 30 years on the Bench, he retired four years ago. Mr Maunsell was born in the Wairarapa and was educated at Wanganui Collegiate School and Victoria University College. He served his clerkship under Sir Robert Stout and Sir John Findlay. He was appointed Magistrate to Westport in 1919 and in 1923 was transferred to Nelson. He had been Chancellor of the Nelson Diocese of the Church of England since. 1925. He leaves a widow and two daughters, Mrs Patricia Broad and Mrs June Cassey, both resident in Wellington. An only son, Terence, was surgeonlieutenant on the aircraft carrier Glorious and lost his life when the Glorious was sunk off Norway in the last war.
