ROYAL TRAINS IN SOUTH ISLAND
CREWS ANNOUNCED (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, December 17. The crews of the Royal train and the pilot train in the South Island during the Royal tour were announced by the Railways Department today. There will be nine two-man crews to run the Royal train, and five for the pilot train. In addition there will be four guards on the Queen’s train and two on the other. Mr W, J. Bourke (engine driver) and Mr D. J. Lucas (fireman) will take the Royal train from Greymouth to Otira, and Messrs P. Costelloe and R. J. Greer will be the crew of the second locomotive on the train. Messrs T. M. Tangey and W. T. Henderson will take the train from Otira to Arthur’s Pass, and Messrs T. O. Wakefield and W. E. Morgan from Arthur’s Pass to Christchurch. Messrs L. C. Stubley and R. H. Bell will be the second crew. Messrs J K. Newlands and J. A. Kane will take the train from Timaru to Oamaru and Messrs N. S. Traves and B. K. Brunie will be the second crew. Messrs E. C. Elsom and M. J. Bryson will drive from Oamaru to Dunedin, and Messrs H. M. Weir and J. R. Robson will be the second crew.
The pilot train will be taken by Messrs J. J. Roberts and T. D. M. Wright from Greymouth to Otira, and Messrs D. L. Sutherland and I. J. Dunsmuir will carry on from Otira to Arthur’s pass. Messrs L. R. M. Murray ? nd will take it from there to Christchurch. Messrs D. A. Parson and A. C. McAuley from Timaru to Oamaru, and Messrs E. F. Walsh and E - C. Oamaru to Dunedin. Bricker, of Christchurch, will be the guard on the train from ureymouth to Christchurch, and Mr A G Finlayson, of Christchurch, will be his assistant. Mr W. J G Ward of Dunedin, will be the guard from’Timaru to Dunedin, with Mr J A Harvey, of Dunedin, as his assistant. - The iV°^ ua^ds^ on the P ilot train will be Mr M. C. of Christchurch, who will accompany the train from Greymouth to Christchurch, and Mr J F Brockett, of Dunedin, who will carry on from Timaru to Dunedin
