ATTENDANCE AT CATHEDRAL

Service On Christmas Day (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 17. The Christmas Day service at the Cathedral Church of St. Mary, which will be attended by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, is to be rebroadcast in 20 other Anglican churches in Auckland and in at least one Presbyterian chiirch. This was announced by the Dean of Auckland (the Very Rev. G. R. Monteith) today. Eight hundred cards for admission to the cathedral and 300 invitations for positions in the grounds have been issued. When the Queen arrives she will be received by the churchwardens, the Dean, and the Bishop of Auckland (the Rt. Rev. W. J. Simkin). A • procession will be formed, and as it enters the cathedral the choir will sing the hymn, “Once in Royal David’s City.” The National Anthem will be sung when the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are in their seats. The Governor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie) will read the first lesson and the Duke of Edinburgh the second. The sermon will be preached by the Bishop of Auckland. Two hymns will be sung during the service, “Come All Ye Faithful” and “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing.” Immediately before the sermon the choir will sing the anthem, “Angels from the Realms of Glory.”
