Mr E. H. S. Hamilton was last evening re-elected chairman of the Christchurch Drainage Board.
Mr W_ H. Price was yesterday reelected ehairman of the Wellington 'Harbour Board for the thirteenth conisecutive year. Sir William Appleton | was elected deputy-chairman—the i first such appointment.—(PA.)
Mr W. G. Minn has been appointed professor of social science at Victoria University College. Mr Minn, who is 48. is at present director of a Government scheme in Britain for training students who want to be social workers in the courts. He took a master of arts degree at Cambridge University in English and moral philosophy, and afterwards studied divinity. He will succeed Professor D. C. Marsh.—(PA.)
Cr. L. Christie (chairman of the; library committee) and the City: Librarian (Mr R. N. O’Reilly) will: represent the City Council at the an-: nual conference of the New Zealand J Library Association at Nelson from ( February 23 to February 26. Mr J. Rennie, of the City Inspector’s Department, will resign his position this month on account of ill-health caused by war disabilities.
The Haydon Prize in chemistry at Canterbury University College has been awarded to Mr R. D. Topsom.
Captain P. Phipps. D.S.C.. V-R.D, R.N-Z.N., formerly of Christchurch, has been posted to the operations division of the Admiralty in London.
