PIGEON FLYING
CANTERBURY CLUB The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club held its first East Cape race from Te Araroa recently. Only five birds homed on the day of liberation. A bird owned by E. Barker won the race, and one nominated bird prize, covering the distance of 516 miles 1457 yards in 14hr Bmin lOsec. The second bird was owned by L. Pither, who won three nominated bird prizes and also the Woodcock Cup. Results were as follows: —E. Barker, 1Q72 yards a minute; L. Pither, 1069.6; N. Stringer, 1069.5; J. Crowther, 1067; A. Duffield, 1062; L. Cooper, 981; L. Gay, 949; H. Clemens, 929; J. Crowther, 921; A. Rowe, 915; A. Stone, 910.
