BRITISH ARMS FOR SPAIN
RELAXATION OF RESTRICTIONS . . LONDON, Dec. 14. The British Government has decided to relax to some extent the restrictions on the export of arms to Spain, the Minister of State (Mr Selwyn Lloyd) told the House of Commons today. He was replying to Mr Gilbert Longden (Labour), who asked whether the Government would notify such restrictions “in view of the necessity for British manufacturers to maintain and increase exports to Spain." The British Government in July of last year eased the restrictions by allowing the export of obsolescent materials to Spain to help the export drive.
