Plans Well Advanced ASSEMBLY IN INDIA ON MARCH 20 (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 18. Plans for the New Zealand Alpine Club expedition into the Himalayas are well advanced, and permission has been obtained from the authorities concerned to travel into a climbing district. Both Sir Edmund Hillary and Mr George Lowe are expected back in New Zealand at the end of February. The climbing party is to assemble in India on March 20. The New Zealand Alpine Club has written to the American Alpine Club advising it of its plans, and is delaying a public announcement of its plans until a reply has been received. An official of the club said today that he doubted whether the New Zealand party would be “doing anything very sensational?’ . Sir Edmund Hillary has been finding the strenuous English lecture tour over-strenuous. Public interest has been so great that engagements have been extended. He has been giving three lectures a day and entertainment has not slackened. Sir John Hunt and Lady Hunt and Sir Edmund Hillary and Lady Hillary have planned a much-needed ski-ing holiday on the Continent. After that Sir Edmund Hillary and Mr Lowe will lecture for six weeks in America.
