WOMAN FINED £350 FOR BOOKMAKING
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 9.
Mrs Margaret June Booth, aged 29, who admitted in the Magistrate’s Court today a charge of bookmaking, was fined £350.
Detective-Sergeant B. G. Goldfinch said the police searched Mrs Booth’s home at 2.25 p.m. on Saturday and seized betting records that showed that to the time of the fifth race £540 had been accepted in bets ranging from 2s 6d to £2O.
Mrs Booth had admitted bookmaking for about two months and a half to three months, with an average turnover of about £4OO a race day.
