PROPOSED N.Z. MILK BOARD
MEMBERSHIP “LOADED” Membership of the proposed New Zealand Milk Board was “definitely loaded” against local bodies, said Miss M. B. Howard; M.P., at yesterday’s meeting of the Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Board. The board was discussing a circular letter setting out the bodies and organisations to be represented on the new national board. As proposed the national board will comprise a chairman appointed by the Government, three producer representatives nominated by ' the Town Milk Producers’ Federation, one vendor representative nominated by the Dominion Federation of Milk Vendors, one local body representative, nominated by the Municipal Association, one woman to represent the interests of women and children, and one Government representative appointed on the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture. As the chairman of the board (Mr J. Mathison, MP.) read down the list of representatives Mr W. P. Warner interjected: “I see there is only one local body representative.” Miss Howard replied: “Loaded—definitely loaded.” The information was formally received and the matter left without further discussion.
