NEW TRIAL BEGUN

CONCLUSION ON FRIDAY EXPECTED

(New Zealand Press Association) - NAPIER, November 9. _ Eight of the 39 witnesses for the Crown gave evidence on the first day today of the new trial of Edna May Wilson, a 46-year-old laundress, ©n a double murder charge. The trial is expected to conclude on Friday. Wilson is charged with murdering Harriet Sarah Player, aged . 81, and Sarah Eliza Armitage, aged 72, on September 8 in the house which they shared in Onslow road, Napier. A new jury was empanelled before Mr Justice Hutchison, who told the jurors that they were to be careful not to associate with outsiders during the trial The first trial was halted last week and the jury dismissed because one juror had been in a position where he could have discussed the case >rith others. Mr A. O. Woodhouse and Mr D. A. Rawlinson, are appearing for the Crown, and Mr H. W. Dowling for Wilson. Evidence closely following that given at the first trial was given by today's witnesses.
