HEAVY LOSSES OF PROPERTY
NEW YORK, November 8. Thousands of people returned to their flood-soaked homes today as the two-day storm that has swept large areas of the United States, causing at Ipast 20 deaths and millions of dollars’ worth of damage, died down. Wooden houses that had perched on stilts on the southern fringe of "Long Island have been splintered and washed out to sea. Many other houses on Long Island and Staten Island are wrecked. Atlantic City’s famous steel pier had been ripped off and a yacht, which cost 100,000 dollars, lies at the bottom of Barnegat Bay in New Jersey.
