ATTITUDE OF BRITAIN
“FULL SUPPORT FOR ACTION TAKEN” (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, November 7. The Foreign Secretary (Mr Eden) told the Italian Ambassador (Mr Manlio Brosio) that the Italian Government should do all it could to curb the elements responsible for provoking the riots in Trieste and the antl-Allied demonstrations in Italy. Mr Eden called the Ambassador to a 50-minute meeting at the Foreign Office yesterday. He told the Ambassador he took a very serious view of the disturbances, and that the Allied Military Gov ernment in Zone A of Trieste had full British support for all steps considered necessary to restore and maintain order. The British Government has rejected a protest by Mr Brosio against “excessive” action of Brit-ish-led police in quelling the riots in Trieste.
