MAN KILLED AND TWO INJURED
CAR HITS ROCK AFTER TYRE BURSTS
(New Zealand Press Association) ROTORUA, November 8.
One man was killed, two of his travelling companions injured, and a fourth—a brother of the dead man —escaped injury when the car in which they were travelling, crashed into a rock after bursting a tyre about 6.15 p.m. on Saturday. Albert Marsh, aged 38, married, a bushman, of Reporoa, was killed. His brother, Alfred, escaped injury. Gary Franklin, aged 26, married, and Joseph Waena, aged 19, single, tooth of Broadlands, suffered concussion and were admitted to the Rotorua Hospital. The accident occurred about one and a half miles on the Reporoa side of Waiotapu.
CHILD INJURED WHEN CAR STRIKES POJLE
A four-year-old child was injured when a car in which she was a passenger struck a telegraph pole in Lincoln road near the Addington Show Grounds about 4.35 p.m. on Saturday. She is Elaine Monica Clarke, of 113 A Somerfield street. She suffered a scalp injury and was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital. The car was driven by Mr W. Clarke, who was treated and discharged.
MOTOR CYCLE AND CAR COLLIDE
A motor-cyclist, Peter Joseph Donnelly, aged 21, of 75 Rattray street, suffered head injuries and slight concussion when his motor-cycle and a car collided at the corner of Oxford terrace and Gloucester Street about 6.25 p.m. on Saturday. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital. His condition last evening was satisfactory.
CYCLIST INJURED
William Bruce Grade, a cyclist, aged 33, was injured in a collision with a car at the corner of Papandr road and Rugby street about 6.25 p.m. on Saturday. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital suffering from head injuries hnd concussion. Last evening his condition was reported as satisfactory.
