Sir William Hildred, president of the International Air Transport Association, which is t meeting in Honolulu, will leave for Auckland by air tomorrow. He intends to have informal consultations with New Zealand air lines. —Honolulu, November 6. Mr A. J. Gainsford, a member of the staff of the Christchurch West Higa School, has been appointed to the postprimary inspectorate. His resignation from the school staff, to take effect from February 1, 1954, was received at a meeting of the board of managers last evening. Mr J. F. Beckett, Christchurch manager for Thomas Cook and Sons., left Christchurch by Skymaster yesterday to attend tourist conventions in Melbourne, London, and New York. One of the matters to be discussed will be hotel accommodation for tourists in New Zealand.

The Baptist Union Assembly in Christchurch yesterday expressed sympathy with relatives in the death of Mr H. J. E. Kane, chief reporter of “The Press,” and with the management and staff of the newspaper.
