TOTAL OF 131 ENTRIES PETER THOMSON AMONG < COMPETITORS (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, Nov. 6. One hundred and thirty-one entries have been received for the New Zealand golf championships, to be played on the Otago Golf Club’s course at Balmacewen from November 11 to November 18. Among the contestants will be Peter Thomson, of Australia, runner-up. in the British open championship for the last two years. At the end of the tournament, six amateurs will be chosen as the New Zealand team to tour Britain in 1954. Members of the New Zealand team that re- : cently returned from Australia— D. L. Woon, T. J. Jeffrey, S. A. McDonald, and S. G. Jones—are all available for the British tour.

CANTERBURY LICENSED TRADE GOLF CLUB The club’s eighteenth annual open tournament will be held at Templeton on Tuesday, November 17.
