SIMS PROFESSOR FOR 1954

SIR JAMES LEARMONTH (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, October 11. The Council of the Royal College of Surgeons has appointed Sir James Learmonth, of Edinburgh, as the Sir Arthur Sims Travelling Professor for 1954. e Sir James Learmonth is professor of surgery and regius professor of clinical surgery at Edinburgh University. He was a household surgeon to King George VI, and performed an operation in 1949 to improve the blood supply to the King’s right foot. He is one of the Queeffls surgeons in her household in Scotland.
