The Communists told the Military Armistice Commission at Panmunjon today that they had never captured most of the 3400 men the Allies say were taken prisoner hot never accounted for. The Communists slsteniAif was *a preliminary reply” to the Allied request of September 9 asking for an accounting of the men. The Communists said that 519 of the men mentioned by the Allies had already been returned, 380 had been “released at the front,” had escaped, or had died. A few had refused repatriation, and the rest were never captured.
