CONCESSIONS IN HUNGARY

AID TO COLLECTIVE FARMERS

(Rec. 9 pjn.) VIENNA, September 19. The Hungarian Government today announced a series of concessions to collective farmers, including the cancellation of debts to the State, Budapest Radio announced last night. The new decree says delivery quotas for members of collective farms would be considerably reduced. Repayments of short-term loans to farm members would be cancelled and middle and long-term loans repaid Only after a period of from two to six years. From 1954 onwards, all members of collective farms fulfilling delivery quotas would obtain State loans for building family houses. These concessions and loans are expected to cost the Hungarian Government 100,000,000 forints (about £2.731.000). The new law provides for vast credits ranging from one to 12 years aimed at facilitating investments in equipment, the growing of crops, cattle-breeding and irrigation works.
