COLLEGE ENGINEERING SOCIETY

ANNUAL DINNER The Canterbury University College Engineering Society this year has attempted in its programme to impress members with the Wider responsibilities of the profession. At the society’s annual dinner many visiting speakers urged the young engineers to take opportunities to assist in community planning and local government. Emphasis Was placed on the need for integrity, precision and vision. The Templin scroll was presented by the donor (Mr J. 'R. Templin) to Mr L. J. Yetman, and the Templin prize to Mr D. Walters, and the president of the society (Professor H. J. Hopkins) presented the Colin Robinson Memorial Prize to Mr P. H. Fisher, and the president’s prize to Mr Bi Woods. The toast list was as follows: guests, proposed by Mr S. R. Siemon and responded to by Mr C. W. Hamann; Engineering Society, Mr C. E. Fenwick, Mr D. R. Teplitzky; School of Engineering, the Very Rev.
