BRITAIN UNIFIES BANK RATE

The Bank of England today reduced the bank rate from 4 per cent, to 3| per cent, but the change is mainly formal The bank rate—the minimum rate at which the . bank discounts approved bills of exchange (hitherto 4 per cent.) and the special rate at which it lends to the money market against Treasury Bills (hitherto 3J per cent.) were unified today at 3| per cent
