DISARMAMENT

Sir,—Mr Adlai Stevenson’s call for renewed efforts for disarmament and non-aggression for all the world is timely; but in my opinion, he spoke with “a brake on.” He could have chastised his country boldly and roundly for its lead in the armaments race, especially on the type oj[ weapons they have invented and proudly boast of—bacteriological bombs and atomic bombs of all types, including the latest “dust bomb,” which could wipe out a nation’s food supply. Its desire for war and power is insatiable, which makes the dark age insignificant in comparison. I hope Mr Stevenson, now home after his tour of the nations, will use his keen sense of justice and common sense to influence the American racketeers.—Yours, etc., LIMIT REACHED. September 17, 1953.
