CHINA AND THE UNITED NATIONS

Sir,—One wonders in reading the papers today whether New Zealand is still a member of the British Empire or another satellite state of America. Why should Australia and New Zealand have to dance to Mr Dulles’s tune when it comes to whether the People’s Government of China should be admitted to the United Nations? How we ran have peace when you exclude 450,000,000 people or more from having a say in world affairs, proves how little America wants peace. I suppose there will be conditions attached before the Export-Import Bank loan is granted. Even Mr Holland is wondering at the apparent conditions mentioned in the cable.—Yours, etc., E.M. September 17, 1953.
