MEN’S INDOOR BASKETBALL
N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY OTAGO (New Zealand Press Association! WELLINGTON, September 17. Unbeaten throughout the tournament. Otago tonight won the New Zealand men’s indoor basketball in Wellington. The runner-up was Wellington, which had four championship points fewer than Otago. In the last game of the night, which was also a special challenge for the Keith Strange Memorial Shield, Palmerston North won the trophy from Wellington, the holder, by 69 points to 64. Results:— First Division.—Otago 45, Canterbury 35; Hamilton 51, Canterbury 41; Otago 42, Nelson 38; Wanganui 46, Rotorua 38; Palmerston North 69, Wellington 64. Second Division • A.—Southland 64, Hawke’s Bay 30; Hutt Valley 46, Marlborough 28. Second Division B.—Wellington Mercantile 48, Hawke’s Bay -24; Hawera 64, Rotorua 28.
Championship points were:—Otago 14, Wellington 10, Hamilton 8, Palmerston North 6, Canterbury 6,. Nelson 4, Rotorua 4, Wanganui 4.
