OBITUARY

MR F. G. STAFFORD Mr Ft G. Stafford, a member of the Union Steam Ship Company’s sea staff, died on board the Hinemoa on Saturday evening. He joined the Maheno in 1907 and was promoted to chief steward of the Atua in 1923. From that year until his death he served in this capacity in most of the company’s passenger vessels. He was sent to Britain in 1931 and again in 1946 to supervise the provedore department of the Rangatira and Hinemoa before their maiden voyages. Since 1931 Mr Stafford had been chief steward in the inter-island steamer express vessel. Mr Stafford had no -relatives in New Zealand.
