R.N.Z.A.F. ENTRY IN RACE

FINAL PREPARATION OF HASTINGS (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) * LONDON, September 14. The Royal New Zealand Air Force Hastings, which arrived at Lyneham, Wiltshire, last week, to prepare for the London to Christchurch air race, is now at the airfield of the makers, Handley Page, at Radlett, Hertfordshire. It is being given a thorough check and “tune up, and the makers of the Bristol engines have sent an engineer from the factory to overhaul the engines. wing Commander R. F. Watson, the captain, and members of his crew, visited the Royal New Zealand Air Force headquarters in London, making various arrangements in connexion with the race, including meetings with Royal Aero Club officials and the handicap officials. Wing Commander Watson intends to carry out “two or three” test flights after the aircraft is overhauled and before taking it to the London airport, where the race will start on October 8.
