ALLEGED BRIBERY ATTEMPTS

REPORTED OFFERS TO JURYMEN (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 21. Detectives are investigating a series • of attempts alleged to have been made to bribe members of the common jury panel called today for the opening of the criminal session at the Supreme Court. A man is alleged to have approached at the week-end at least 10 of the *6l jurors on the panel. He is said to have offered up to £3OO if the jurors would help to obtain a verdict of “not guilty” in one of the cases to be heard. The jurors approached informed the police, and inquiries were started on Monday evening.
