SOUTH KOREA’S DEFENCE

“Reserves Drafted To Active Service” (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) SEOUL, July 20. The South Korean Army will draft all its reserves into active service shortly, an official spokesman for the Ministry of National Defence said today. He said that the National Defence Committee had decided on this as “a permanent defence programme.” Observers in Seoul believe that the South Korean Army plans to increase its manpower to 20 Army divisions before, the armistice.

The armistice terms forbid any increase of military strength after the truce.
