General Sir Geoffrey Scoones, who will succeed Sir Roy Price as Britain’s High Commissioner in New Zealand, will sail for New Zealand in the Rangitata, which is due at Wellington on September 9. The Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch (the Most Rev. E. M. Joyce) left Wellington yesterday on his first ad limina visit to Rome. He will also visit the United States, Ireland, and Britain. It will be his first visit to Rome since his consecration as Bishop of Christchurch in 1950. He is expected to return to New Zealand about Christmas. During his absence his episcopal functions will be performed by the Coadjutor Bishop of Dunedin (the Most Rev. J. P. Kavanagh).—(P.A.) Mr E. Brebner, principal dental officer for health education with the Dental Division of the Health Department, will leave for Britain and the Continent in December on a ninemonths’ study tour.
