TWO BRITISH TEAMS WITHDRAWN

Werner Haas, the German ace, won the 1953 world 250 c.c. motor-cycling championship on an N.S.U. machine in the German Grand Prix at Schotten yesterday. He finished second in the 125 c.c. race to retain his world championship lead in this category. With four of the leading works teams not competing, the meeting lost much of its international appeal. Nortons and A.J.S., the British firms, and the Italian Gilera and Moto-Guzzi manufacturers withdrew their teams aftej- the jury of the International Motor-cycling Federation had decided last Thursday that the 350 c.c. and the 500 c.c. Schotten events would not count for the world championships. The jury took this action as the result of complaints by some firms about the course.

A New Zealander, Kenneth Mudford, was third in the 100-mile 350 c.c. race. The race was won by an Italian, Carlo Bandirola, on an Augusta in Ihr 20min
